Fibre Technician Assistant Polokwane
Key Performance Objective
- Assist in the route maintenance along the fibre networks and repairs to the infrastructure
- Routine repairs (normal wear and tear issues)
- Assisting fibre technician in the maintenance of the fibre route
- Assisting the fibre technician in the repair of the fibre optic cable when needed
- Fixing / replacement of route markers,
- Cleaning and repairs to man holes;
- Small fibre access and link builds
- Performing DIT on existing and new fibre routes
- Routine maintenance and Fibre route repairs work
- Routine repairs (normal wear and tear issues) shall include the following:
- Minor trenching and erosion repairs,
- Trenching for new access link build
- Sagging (subsidence) along the original trench line and rectification,
- Fixing / replacement of route markers,
- Compaction of any soil/gravel work to specifications.
- Applying accepted and recognised standards, procedures and processes
- Maintain and repair related fibre route civil maintenance
- Performing light construction work
Qualification
- Matric /Relevant industry qualifications
- A tertiary qualification is advantageous
Job Requirements
- 0 – 2 Years work experience (added advantage is work experience in fibre route, civil maintenance or the telecommunications industry)
- Driver’s license will be an added advantage
- Required to work extended hours and on weekends and public holidays should the need arise due to operational requirements
- Incumbent will be required to undergo relevant medicals and eye tests to be fit and proper for onsite duties
