Fibre Technician Assistant – Hybrid Team
Key Performance Objectives:
- Assist to protect weak spots until it can be rectified, not allowing access
- Assist in rectify or cutting over cables and/or cutting in new joints
- Assist with the installation of fibre optic cable by means floating/blowing methods
- Assist with routine maintenance and Fibre route repairs work
- Assist Routine repairs or normal wear and tear issues
- Assist with the Maintain and repair related fibre route civil maintenance
- Adhere with required Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality and other legislation
- Always ensure that all work carried out is within the required H&S legislative requirements and/or as per the approved site-specific file
Qualifications
- Matric or equivalent
- Registration as an FOA Splicer is an advantage
- A tertiary qualification is advantageous
Job Requirements
- More than 1-3 years’ experience in a technician role within Telecommunication experience – fibre route civil maintenance (Trenching, backfilling, repairing and build etc.)
- Telecommunication experience – civil experience, optic fibre experience (Installation and floating/blowing) and previous underground route building experience will be an added advantage
- Computer literate
- Valid driver’s license advantageous
- Knowledge of test equipment (OTDR) and Health and Safety advantage
- Required to work extended hours and on weekends and public holidays should the need arise due to operational requirements
- Incumbent will be required to undergo relevant medicals and eye tests to be fit and proper for onsite duties
