Key Performance Objectives

      • Protect weak spots until it can be rectified, not allowing access
      • Rectify/ remedy cutting over cables and/or cutting in new joints
      • Maintain shortest timelines between temporary and permanent repairs
      • Small fibre access and link builds
      • Installation of fibre optic cable by means floating/blowing methods
      • Performing DIT on existing and new fibre routes
      • Routine maintenance and Fibre route repairs work
      • Routine repairs (normal wear and tear issues) shall include the following:
      • Minor trenching and erosion repairs,
      • Trenching for new access link build
      • Sagging (subsidence) along the original trench line and rectification,
      • Fixing / replacement of route markers,
      • Cleaning and repairs to man holes;
      • Compaction of any soil/gravel work to specifications.

Qualifications

  • Matric or equivalent
  • Registration as an FOA Splicer is an advantage
  • A tertiary qualification is advantageous

Job Requirements

  • More than 5 years’ experience in a technician role within Telecommunication experience – fibre route civil maintenance (Trenching, backfilling, repairing and build etc.)
  • Telecommunication experience – civil experience, optic fibre experience (Installation and floating/blowing) and previous underground route building experience will be an added advantage
  • Computer literate
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Knowledge of test equipment (OTDR) and Health and Safety advantage
  • Required to work extended hours and on weekends and public holidays should the need arise due to operational requirements
  • Incumbent will be required to undergo relevant medicals and eye tests to be fit and proper for onsite duties

Technical Support Analyst (TSA)

KEY PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

  1. Technical Support:
    • Provide remote technical assistance to technicians by receiving, logging, resolving, and closing support tickets across various platforms and technologies.
    • Analyze and convert loop traces to facilitate troubleshooting and resolution.
  2. User Communication:
    • Manage user expectations and ensure effective communication throughout the support process, providing timely updates on ticket status.
  3. Support Management:
    • Oversee SDM updates, source relevant support systems (Q-base, CRM-DFA), and manage the posting of all tickets in designated WhatsApp groups.
    • Document and close all resolved tickets, actions, and solutions within the SDM system.
    • Create and maintain internal information tracing sheets to enhance support processes.
  4. Health & Safety:
    • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the support team, promoting a safe working environment.
  5. HR Management:
    • Manage the HR aspects of the technical support team, including overseeing overtime, leave requests, and team performance.
    • Foster a positive team environment by addressing personnel issues and supporting team development.
  6. Process Improvement:
    • Follow and actively seek to improve existing TSA support processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  7. Collaboration:
    • Work collaboratively with external teams to improve service delivery and support for technicians.
  8. Customer Interaction:
    • Deliver outstanding customer service through various channels, including phone, email, and chat.
    • Escalate complex issues to relevant teams or senior technicians for resolution.

  10. Standby and Shift Management:
    • Manage TSA lists related to weekly standby night shifts and day shifts.
    • Gather and provide feedback related to all support groups.

  • Assist in the route maintenance along the fibre networks and repairs to the infrastructure
  • Routine repairs (normal wear and tear issues)
  • Assisting fibre technician in the maintenance of the fibre route
  • Assisting the fibre technician in the repair of the fibre optic cable when needed
  • Fixing / replacement of route markers,
  • Cleaning and repairs to man holes;
  • Small fibre access and link builds

Fibre Technician Polokwane

Key Performance Objectives:

  • Assist the Managed Services team with day to day maintenance on your fibre routes
  • Identification of weak spots in the network that are high risk
  • Protect weak spots until it can be rectified, not allowing access
  • Rectify/ remedy cutting over cables and/or cutting in new joints
  • Maintain shortest timelines between temporary and permanent repairs
  • Territory Management
  • All breaks in the area to be resolved within the set SLA agreement (4 hours)
  • Maintenance on HH and route on a daily basis (Cleaning , numbering, slack management)
  • Weekly route patrols
  • Adhoc link build projects as per contractual agreement with clients
  • Always ensure that all work carried out is within the required H&S legislative requirements and/or as per the approved site-specific file
  • Interface with all stakeholders (Internal clients & External clients, subcontractors, engineers and suppliers)
  • Adhere to and ensures that the project delivers the solution, remains within budget, is delivered on time, while achieving quality criteria and maintaining client satisfaction
  • Demonstrates adequate team leadership, motivation, ability and business acumen. They should have a good understanding of, responsibility for and ability in all aspects of the full life-cycle of the assigned projects
